Jiu Jitsu And The Character Of The Instructors

Jiu Jitsu and the Character of the Instructors

Martial arts is evidently popular presently especially the one introduced by Royce Gracie – Jiu Jitsu. This form of martial art teaches individuals about grappling or ground fighting. Many people think that this is brutish but they are not aware of its mental benefits.

Some of the famous teachers of Jiu Jitsu are Royce Gracie, Rodrigo, Relson, Gi Valente, Pedro Valente, Pedro Sauer, Mario Simas, and many others. All these instructors possessed common traits which made them successful in their respective fields. They have made Jiu Jitsu very popular in today’s times.

Without great Jiu Jitsu instructors, students will not be able to learn effectively. First of all, Jiu Jitsu instructors have great respect and interest in their student’s well being, whether they are in class or not. All you can expect is gracious treatment when you visit their club office or gym. Although the culture observed in the Jiu Jitsu classes are informal, it is still extremely personal.

When you’re a student in a Jiu Jitsu class, you will surely feel like you’re part of a much bigger group, greater than themselves. All the students would feel is respect, acceptance, and belonging. Many of today’s youths feel like they are outcasts because of the extreme peer pressure. This may be one of the reasons why children and teens are quite interested in Jiu Jitsu classes.

Jiu Jitsu is not only about physical fitness and self defense. It’s also about becoming a better individual through the lessons in life taught by the instructors. For the students to improve and advance, they need to train with several partners. This is one way for the students to open up to others during class. A selfish, rough, and disagreeable student will not progress because others will not like him/her. Once that student realizes his/her mistakes, that student will start to care and help others.

Each student is expected to have a strong character because the instructors will teach them hand-to-hand fighting or grappling. The instructors will not tolerate bullying and unsupervised fighting.

Jiu Jitsu also builds mental toughness. The United States Army Rangers, Marine Corps, and West Point require new cadets to learn Jiu Jitsu in their curriculum. Warriors are mentally tough and that’s what separates them from the traditional society. Mental toughness is the key when you’re already fighting. However, in your day to day life, you also need to be mentally tough to overcome life’s challenges and obstacles.

Mastering any skill requires diligence and dedication. Without it, you can’t build a strong character. Did you know that in order to acquire a black belt in Jiu Jitsu could take 10 to 15 years of continuous practice and learning? That’s true and it’s because Jiu Jitsu is very complex. You can’t learn this sport without expert help. Some sports can be learned overnight but not Jiu Jitsu. It takes a lot of time of dedication, practice, and learning.

The characters of the Jiu Jitsu instructors are a great factor in the learning process of the students. Without the great teachers, students will not be able to learn everything they need to know. Jiu Jitsu is complex and for you to learn the different techniques and proper leverage, you need the right attitude and the best instructors.

Find a Jiu Jitsu class with an experienced instructor and be prepared to learn.
